Lucius Crash on intro, Won’t start, Cannot see menu, Cannot Save, Exe no longer works
Lucius crashes after intro
If you get crashes after cutscenes with errors mentioning “cannot locate texture” or “cannot allocate bytes of memory”, believe it or not this may be caused by some corrupt save files. Go to C:Users(Account)DocumentsLuciussaves, and delete input.txt and config.txt. Try running Lucius now.
If still that doesn’t work, try deleting the screenshots inside the same folder. If this still fails, please let us know in the comments.
Lucius randomly crashes in-game
Usually this CTD comes with the error “Lucius has stopped working.” Try the fix posted above first.
Lucius won’t start
If you’re having problems getting Lucius to start on your Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC, go to your Steam folder > steamapps > common > Lucius and copy the exe file to the desktop and run it from there.
Lucius is not working on Windows 8 – “Can’t load Main Shader”
Yes, Lucius is compatible with Windows 8. Here’s how to make it run on the latest Windows system:

“Lucius.exe no longer works, it will look for a solution to the problem”
If you get this error, you can solve it using the Windows 8 fix posted above.
Cannot see anything in the menu
Here’s a weird fix: try pressing print screen many times until the main menu appears.
If that does not resolve it, here are other proven fixes:
- Run Lucius in windowed mode
- Go to your nVidia or ATI control panel and set antialiasing for Lucius to “application controlled”
Cannot save games in Lucius
